Everyday Cleaning Concept

I enjoy a clean home.  However, as a mother, this often times seem more like a fantasy than a reality.  Time is usually not on our side, and if it is, whatever we decide to clean in that time will be trashed moments later by a child.  That is why we should clean everyday in order to constantly achieve a well-kept home and not go crazy in the process.

I have a chart that I keep posted on the side of my refrigerator called “Everyday Cleaning” (shown below).  On this chart, it shows two rooms per weekday to focus on.  Once those rooms are cleaned (general cleaning like picking up toys, dusting, vacuuming, window washing, etc.), I check the box showing it has been completed.

Please note:  Since I keep up on the daily cleaning, it usually takes me less than 20 minutes to complete both rooms.

Along with the general cleaning, I choose one “Special Challenge” in each room to tackle (examples can be viewed under the Special Challenges tab).  The template shows examples of these challenges.   And, of course, I check off when I have made my bed (see Bedroom Confessions).

Cleaning should not be a burden.  It should a way of life that allows us to relax in a comfortable, sanitary environment.  I encourage each of you to try posting this chart (with your own “Special Challenges” for each room) on your refrigerator or bulletin board and join me in enjoying a clean home all week long.  Then feel free to relax on the weekends!
