This month I am working on a Power Savings Month. By the end of the month, I hope to throw $200 in my can.
As I get a little further into the month, I really want to share with
you my progress, including my shopping lists, my monthly menu, and some
new recipes. But right now, I want to focus on getting the most out of
your chicken.
I have mentioned before that I always buy whole
chickens because most of the time they are the best value. I have
spoken to several people who have told me they do not know how to use a
chicken to its fullest and they feel like they wind up throwing a lot
away. If you do not get the most out of your chicken, then it no longer
becomes the best value. Throwing food away is never a money-saving
situation.
This week, I will walk you through how I manage to get
seven frugal, tasty, and wholesome meals from one five pound chicken:
from prepping it, to cooking it, to creating different meals to ensure
variety and prevent boredom. After reading this series of posts, I
strongly encourage you to go out and buy a whole chicken and give it a
try. You will be thrilled that you took a five pound bird and fed your
family for a full week never once feeling like you have sacrificed
flavor, nutrition, or time.
Tomorrow I will begin by telling you how I initially prepare and cook my chicken to begin my week long chicken journey.
