It's Go Time

Everyone has a "Go Time," a point during they day when they feel the most energetic. Often you hear people say that they are a night owl or a morning person. Some people get the most done from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon. Others can move mountains at 10:00 at night. Each person is different, but each person has a peak performance time.

For me, my get up and go time is usually between 9:00am and 11:00am. Before 9:00, I am a slug. Hand me some coffee and sit me at a computer because, other than feeding the kids breakfast, I am not good for much else. After 11:00am, I tend to wind down. While I still function, my desire to tackle the universe has diminished greatly.

It took me quite a while to figure out when my Go Time was, mostly because I used to work the second shift and sleep right through it. I frequently felt lethargic and unaccomplished. Tasks always seemed to be a burden and I could never quite get energized. As I got older and switched to regular work hours, I realized that around 9:00 I was full of energy, no matter how little sleep I managed the night before. At work, I would power through most of my day's tasks in two hours. It was a burst of energy that led to my success in my career as well as my feelings of positive self-worth.

This still applies in my life as a stay-at-home mother. I start my day with a list of things I hope to accomplish then I try to make sure my children are entertained and content through those two hours so I can get as much done on my list as time will allow before I slow back down again.

I have often been asked how I do so much. Along with simplifying and being in the right mindset, I utilize my Go Time to its fullest. I toss food in a crockpot. I tackle the laundry. I run through my Everyday Cleaning Concept. I exercise. I dance around with the children. I explode in my energetic state and feel positive the rest of the day.

If you do not all ready know when your Go Time is, I encourage you to figure it out. It may take some time and slight schedule alterations, but try to find a section of time during the day when you get a rush of desire to accomplish tasks. Once you have figured it out, toss a handful of almonds and munch on an apple throughout your Go Time to keep you physically fueled to get as much done as you can.

Do you know your Go Time? Are you a morning person? A night owl? Or somewhere in between?
