Mildew-Be-Gone

As the humidity of the summer is now upon us in many areas, mold and mildew are beginning to grow rampant. At my home, mildew loves to overtake the front porch requiring a yearly thorough clean. I used to tackle this project with bleach and water which worked wonderfully but proved to not be worth it as it burned through my skin, affected the growth around my porch and had me worrying about my children's safety.

As part of my Clean and Green Challenge, I vowed to look for a safer, greener and still frugal method of destroying the Green Goblin that annually resides on my porch.

After much research, I discovered that Tea Tree Oil was once again the perfect option:

Tea Tree Oil Mildew-Be-Gone
  • 1 t. Tea Tree Oil
  • 1/2 gallon water
Combine in a large bowl and, using a clean washcloth, effortlessly wipe the mildew away then rinse clean with water.

My porch is now back to sparkling white without burning my skin or causing any damage to my plants!
