I wanted to share more of my frugal (and
hippie) tips for reducing, reusing, and recycling. As long as you put your mind to it, the list can be endless!
- An old curtain makes a great table cloth on our nightstand (which is actually an old filing cabinet!).
- I use an old dishwasher soap container to store homemade laundry detergent.
- A Ziploc container that was well past its prime for storing food is now being used as an indoor garden pot
to grow some spinach and cilantro. Just slit some holes in the bottom,
set it on top of the lid, and fill the lid with water to moisten the
soil.
- My dog's bed is our old comforter. He loves it. He's on it right now and looks mighty comfortable!
- The homemade baby bottom spray we use to change my daughter's diapers is in an old leave-in hair conditioner bottle.
- My daughter has artwork that I made out of old receiving blankets hanging above her crib.
- I have four old shower curtain rings attached to the ceiling to hold a hanging potted plant.
- My son uses the backside of the past month's desk calendar page as large drawing paper.
I
hope these ideas have started your brain working on ways to recycle and
reuse items in your home in order to reduce your spending and your
eco-footprint.
