A couple nights ago it was "Mommy" time.
Throughout the day I did a little extra picking up to make the house feel that much more organized and relaxing. Then, once the children were in bed, I asked my husband to do his own thing so I could have some alone time.
After I turned off the computer, put away my phone, and shut the television cabinet, I started the evening with a half hour of yoga. I focused on relaxing positions and deep breathing. My go-to yoga pose for extreme body relaxation: the Sun Salutation.
Once my body felt strengthened, loose and relaxed and my mind was cleared, I headed to the bathroom for phase two of Mommy time.
I began with a pedicure. Through the wonders of Avon, I sat, comfortably reading my Redbook magazine, with a lavender foot clay mask working its magic. After ten minutes, I moved on to a lavender foot soak
ending with an exfoliating foot treatment and pumice stone. Next, I
sprayed the bathroom with my favorite lavender/vanilla aroma and soothed
myself with a warm bath followed by a shower. I even took the time to
shave, just for me. After I completed my shower, I rubbed on some Avon
lavender overnight foot lotion to top off my pedicure.Once I was done in the bathroom, I moved into the living room. Leaving all electronics off and the light just bright enough to read, I dove into my magazine for a little while longer. To end the evening, I went to bed an hour earlier than usual and slept wonderfully after my personal pampering.
Now its your turn. Tonight put the children to bed and tell your husband to go away. Relax in a bath, take the time to shave your legs just for yourself, read a favorite book or magazine, and keep the electronics off for a few hours, then go to bed early.
Because sometimes, it has to be all about Mom.
