Do you ever feel like you have no time? And if you have time, you
feel like you have no energy? Here's a new theory for you to try.
Get
busy.
Don't have any time? Add one more thing to your plate.
Don't have any energy? Do some Yoga or go for a jog. Give yourself a
healthy dose of reverse psychology.
Human beings are amazing at
adapting, though often times we don't tap into our fullest potential.
We enter ruts or get trapped in routines. Our minds and bodies begin to
adjust to our continuing daily cycles of the same. Eventually, we
start to feel exhausted or overwhelmed. We start to wonder how people
can juggle more and then we think that we are failing because we can't
juggle more. We think there is no way we can spend an extra thirty
minutes exercising like the magazines tell us to, or add ten minutes to
grocery shopping to save some money like our finances wish we would, or
even clean underneath our bed when we know we really need to.
How can others do so much? How can they have so much energy?
They
do more. By adding more to your routine, you are forced to adapt
physically and mentally. Adding more can be as simple as lifting some
weights for fifteen minutes after work or cooking a meal from scratch
once a week. It is challenging you to step outside of your norm,
readjust your way of doing things, and prioritize to fit more into your
life.
A study was done that found that people are happier when
they are busier. I can't quote that study, I just heard it somewhere.
But even if it isn't legitimate, it still makes sense. When you are
stressed and have free time (even a half an hour after work), you tend
to focus on your stress. That is when the stress takes a toll on your
psyche and your body. The key is to cut out the time to dwell and get active.
If you fill that half hour with mood-boosting exercise, you are less
likely to dwell on everything that stresses you out and more likely to
focus on how to improve your strategies and refocus your goals.
I
challenge you this week to get busy. If you feel tired, get up and
dance. If you feel like you have no time, dedicate yourself to
finishing a book by a deadline. Commit to getting busy and watch your
energy increase, your sleep improve, and your psyche relax.
No excuses
allowed. Just get busy.
