Sweet Summer Corn

Sweet corn on the cob can be cooked in a variety of ways: grilling, boiling, microwaving, or baking.  I have never used any recipes or advice to cook corn.  I just use the memories I have of my parents cooking it every summer.  Until recently, I never realized that they had taught me the easiest way to cook it and still hold its flavor.

I learned that most people struggle to remove the husk and the silk before cooking it.  I attempted this technique and it was nearly impossible to get all the silk off!
Here's an easier way:

Remove the excess husk and silk with your hands or snip it off with scissors, creating a clean looking ear of corn.  Then just pop it in the microwave for four to five minutes per ear.  Once cooked, allow to cool for a minute, then, using pot holders, carefully remove the husk and silk.  Use caution: it will be hot and steamy.  You'll notice how effortlessly the husk and silk slides right off the cob.  Now you have a clean ear of corn, still chock full of flavor, without having the mess and agony of trying to remove the raw husk and silk.

Now go buy some and enjoy the taste of summer!
