The Golden Sky: Review and Giveaway!

Honest, genuine, and heartfelt, The Golden Sky by EC Stilson is one of the most captivating books I have ever read. Composed of the author's real-life journal entries, this book takes you through her emotional journey of becoming a mother to the son she always wanted, holding him on his way to Heaven, and handling her grief after her family's loss.

When an ultrasound shows that her son will most likely be born with life-threatening birth defects, Stilson selflessly chooses to continue on with her pregnancy and give her son a fighting chance at life. Clearly a passionate and amazing mother, she stays with him through his struggles, singing to him and bringing joy to his life in the NICU.

Grateful for her son to have graced the presence of everyone in his path, the author shows how a pure little life can affect so many people in such a short period of time. After his passing, Stilson expresses her struggles through marriage, parenting, careers and life while she copes with her grief and admirably never gives up.

Stilson's raw and conversational writing style through her journal entries makes this book unique in comparison to any memoir I have read. Filled with her natural humor and optimism, she brings hope and healing to anyone who has suffered the loss of someone close them. Her obvious good-natured and selfless personality shines through in every word and draws the reader in deeper with each passing page. I found myself so engulfed in her story that I could not put the book down.

I very highly recommend The Golden Sky to anyone who has suffered loss. This book clearly shows that life is filled with things we can never understand but that God has a purpose in His actions and holds each one of His children close to Him through their struggles. I am so happy to have had the chance to read this book and to see a glimpse into EC Stilson's journey to healing.
