All the shopping is complete. The crowds swarming the stores are behind us. No more running out in the cold for last minute gifts or standing in long lines at the mall. The presents are wrapped and awaiting their trip from the closet to under the tree, care of Santa Claus. The garland is strung. The wreaths are hung. Ribbons and bows, poinsettias and cranberries, candles and pine cones all set in place. The soft glow of the lights warm the hearts of our homes. Our mangers are set to remind us of the reason for our celebrations.
Cookies are baked and candies are made. Each stocking is stuffed with goodies and treats. Tomorrow's dinner sits prepped in the refrigerator. Pies are baked and cooling on the stove top. Our kitchens sit quiet and empty, awaiting the bustle of the big day to come.
Young children are resting, anxiously awaiting all that Santa will bring. Older children are inching closer to bed, excited to celebrate with family and friends. Parents are relaxing, enjoying the ambiance and magic they have created together for their families, sipping their wine and eggnog.
Tomorrow is a day of joy, peace, and reverence. A day of family, friends and loved ones. A day of hope, caring and sharing. A day built by those for whom we hold dear.
This eve we enjoy all our hard work, looking forward to the bliss still to come.
Merry Christmas Eve to you all!
